| As the rabbi of Temple Shalom in Auburn, Maine, I welcome you to our home on the Internet. I have been the spiritual leader of Temple Shalom since 2003, after several previous careers as an attorney, a journalist, an electrician, and various other jobs. I am originally from Los Angeles, CA, where I grew up in a Jewish, but non-observant, home. I lived for a total of nine years in Israel, all on kibbutzim, and served in the Israeli army. Upon return to the United States, I attended law school, then went into private practice, first in California and then in New Mexico. I also began exploring the rich traditions of Judaism, and singing in a synagogue choir. For several years, I served as a High Holy Day Cantor for synagogues in Arizona, California, and Iowa, and in 2001 I left law to become a full-time cantor. Two years later I came to Maine as the spiritual leader of Temple Shalom, and in 2004 I received rabbinic ordination from the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York. I have three grown daughters, two grandsons, and live with my wife Suzan in Lewiston. |
