Washburn is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. It was incorporated on February 25, 1861, and named after Israel Washburn, the governor of Maine at the time.
Long a potato growing and processing area, the town lies northwest of Presque Isle on Maine Route 164, which curves through the town and links it with Caribou to the northeast.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 34.9 square miles (90.5 km2), of which, 34.2 square miles (88.7 km2) of it is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2) of it (2.00%) is water.
